After installation, air conditioners in the Philippines should be cleaned and maintained every three to six months, depending on how frequently the unit is used and how dusty or polluted the surrounding environment is. At minimum, the air filter should be removed and washed every two to four weeks by the homeowner to prevent dust buildup that reduces airflow and increases electricity consumption. A more thorough professional cleaning, which includes washing the evaporator and condenser coils, checking the refrigerant level, inspecting the drainage system, and testing the electrical components, should be scheduled at least twice a year to keep the unit running efficiently, extend its lifespan, and avoid costly breakdowns caused by neglected maintenance.
